Oslo, Norway and Copenhagen, Denmark — August 12, 2026  — Promon today announced the completion of its acquisition of Codesealer, and the launch of Promon Shield for Web™, extending the company’s protection from mobile and desktop applications to web applications and the APIs behind them. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Customer-facing digital services often span mobile applications, desktop applications, web applications, SDKs, and APIs. This can mean different tools, different policies, and different levels of assurance across services that reach the same users and data. Attackers look for whichever channel is least protected. Together, Promon and Codesealer extend a common protection model across mobile, desktop, SDKs, web, and APIs.

The principle is the same one Promon has applied since it was founded. Applications run in environments their owners do not control: a customer’s phone or laptop, or a web application running in the customer’s browser. Rather than trying to make those environments trustworthy, Promon Shield creates a protected space inside them—a Trusted Runtime Environment. Promon Shield for Web™ brings this model to web applications running in the browser. The environment can be attested from the server side, giving the organization proof it can use when deciding whether selected API endpoints should release data.

"Our customers have been asking for the web equivalent of what they already have on mobile, and this is it," said Shaun Cooney, chief product and technology officer at Promon. "Their applications run in places they do not control. We cannot make those places safe, and neither can they. What we can do is build something trustworthy inside them, verify that it has not been tampered with, and give the organization the proof it needs before allowing data to flow. That is the protection principle we have applied to mobile and desktop for twenty years. Now our customers can apply it to the web."

"Mobile and web have been two different problems with two different vendors. Now they're one," said Daniel Kollberg, chief executive officer at Promon. “Codesealer has always been about protecting critical digital services in conditions that are far from ideal,” said Henrik Müller, chief executive officer at Codesealer. “Becoming part of Promon means that work can reach many more organizations, as part of a coherent whole rather than as another point solution.”

Promon Shield for Web™ is available now. Web attestation currently runs through Codesealer’s existing service. Full consolidation onto one Promon Verify service for mobile and web is planned later in 2026.
